Prof. Dr. Dr. Ann-Kristin Achleitner

Prof. Dr. Dr. Ann-Kristin Achleitner is a Distinguished Affiliated Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where she held the Chair of Entrepreneurial Finance between 2001 and 2020. Prof. Dr. Achleitner received her doctorates in business administration as well as law from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland. After a brief career as a management consultant with McKinsey, she held the Chair of Banking and Finance at the European Business School (EBS) in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany from 1995 to 2001. An accomplished academic with multiple honors and publications, she now acts primarily as a non-executive board director and venture investor. With several awards for both research and teaching, including the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2014, Prof. Dr. Achleitner’s counsel is highly regarded across both the public and private sector.

She currently sits on the Munich Re Supervisory Board, the Linde Board of Directors and is a Director of Lazard Group. She is a member of the International Advisory Board of Investcorp, as well as a member of the Advisory Boards of Lakestar Advisors GmbH and of Techem GmbH. Since 2020, Ann-Kristin Achleitner is a member of the Supervisory Board of UnternehmerTUM GmbH. Previously, Prof. Dr. Achleitner served as a member of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Börse from 2016 until 2019 and was a member of the Board of Directors of Engie from 2012 until 2019. She also served as a member of the Supervisory Board of Metro AG in Düsseldorf, Germany, until February 2017, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Vontobel Holding AG and Vontobel Bank AG in Zurich, Switzerland until April 2013.

She has advised multiple commissions in the German, Bavarian and Swiss governments, as well as in the EU commission, and multiple award juries. Prof. Dr. Achleitner is also a member of multiple boards of non-public institutions and foundations, including the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. She is a member of the World Economic Forum`s Global Future Council on Europe, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies. In addition, she was elected Vice President of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) in July 2021 and serves as a member of the Executive Committee.
